The Unplag Plagiarism Checker is Now Accessible to the Blackboard Learn Platform Users

Educators using Blackboard Learn can now explore full potential of Unplag to enhance students' academic writing skills, reduce plagiarism.

Unplag (unplag.com), an online plagiarism checker designed to accurately spot similarities and teach students how to write originally, is now available for all educational institutions using Blackboard's leading learning management system, Blackboard Learn. The Unplag functionality including its recently released search sensitivity and character replacement features can be used by teachers or professors once their institution representative registers an account at unplag.com.

With possibilities to run simultaneous checks against online sources, documents stored in the institution account and integrated databases as well as receive interactive reports with links to original sources, Unplag can help educators optimize their daily workflow a lot.

"Given the fact Unplag was launched just a few years ago, we've managed to substantially upgrade its functionality so far, " said Anastasia Parokha, CEO at Unplag. "We keep an eye on our clients' emerging needs and do our best to create the functions that would better meet them. This can be successfully implemented thanks to our like-minded team working on the checker development. Each of us gets behind the idea of contributing much not just to the enhancement of the tool, but to academic integrity movement as a whole."

Newly added functions always become available to all registered Unplag users the moment they are officially released. Blackboard Learn users can now evaluate the most recent upgrades including Commenting Mode to share advice with students, and an enhanced similarity search algorithm to perform even more precise plagiarism search.

"Our partner and developer programs drive tremendous value for clients by enabling access to hundreds of pre-built extensions that help them get more value out of their learning platforms," said Kathleen Vieira, Vice President of Partner Solutions at Blackboard. "This unique, vibrant community of development makes it easy for institutions to customize their systems and gives them great flexibility in how they improve and shape the educational experience."

To ensure users' data security, Unplag does not store the files users keep in their accounts or scan using Unplag. If a user chooses to contribute a paper to the Unplag internal database, he or she can enable the "Sharing Files" option in his or her personal account.

More Unplag system updates and features are to be released this year including similarity search algorithm improvement, which is supposed to change the common understanding of how plagiarism is found.
